After her death, it was discovered that Corliss was underage, just 14 years old. Public outrage, fueled by the anger of Corliss's mother, destroyed Loony Leo's TV career. Much later, it was claimed that Corliss had, in fact, run away from home to escape her mother's physical abuse.
