Quarrel II
From Herocopia
This spunky, determined, second generation "Quarrel" has chosen a far more positive and heroic direction than her villainous father (Quarrel I). She wears a costume similar in design and uses much of the same weapons and fighting styles, but she is a distinguished member of the elite superhero team Honor Guard, and a resourceful solo-adventurer. She has been a member of Honor Guard since at least 1991.

Vital Statistics
Status: active
Real Name: Jessica Darlene Taggart
Debuted: 1:1
Earliest known appearance: Sometime in 1970, when her dad, Quarrel I shows pictures of his newborn daughter, Jessica, to his villianous cohorts. Her earliest to date revealed appearance is in 1991.
Affiliation: Honor Guard, also does street patrolling with Crackerjack on a regular basis
Base of Operations: Honor Guard Headquarters for team activities, Astro City for solo duties
Powers
Wears Bolt-Blaster on right wrist for firing projectiles. Two indentations on top for holding quarrels to fire. Other firing locations might exist, but not definitively identified at present time.
Also wears a suit of chain mail with a heavy material chest-overlay. Stirrup on boots, the purpose might be decoration or something more?
Projectile List:
- Acid quarrels 1:5 page 7
- Anesthetic injection/knockout quarrels 1:5 page 7
- Blunt tipped quarrels for attacks. It is similar to rubber bullet with the intent to incapacitate or damage targets on impact. 1:1 page 11
- Net quarrel LH:1 page 11
- Rocket propelled explosive quarrels 2:7
Standard sized quarrels are stored on left hip. She also has a backpack used for larger and/or special quarrel mechanisms. The backpack also seems to hold a parachute, unless that was a different backpack that Steeljack references in 2:19.
Her basic set of quarrels and grappling devices were probably the extend of her father's original arsenal. Her association with the technical members of Honor Guard, especially N-Forcer, have resulted in a wider, more versatile and far more advanced set of projectile weapons and tools.
Wears a grappling device on her right hip for aerial movement, can also be fired from projectile launcher for long distances. See Astro City Comics 2:15.4 for a actual demonstration.
Speculations, Observations and Theories:
The names of her parents are not yet disclosed. How she became Quarrel and later a member of Honor Guard has not been revealed. It is assumed that the desire to make amends for her father's mistaken lifestyle are significant influences in her decision to become a crime-fighter.
She has street smarts, a soft side, and a healthy sense of humor including a minor, smart-alecky streak that adds charm to her healthy, well-rounded personality.
Possibly from a small town in Kentucky.
Had some sort of relationship with the Street Angel. It's unknown whether this was a mentor-pupil relationship or of some other kind.
In issue 1:5 Nightingale refers to a Quarrel and Crackerjack relationship that might have romantic elements, but there are hints dropped in letters pages that there is more to consider than what the obvious surface aspects suggest. Perhaps, given her personality, it might be possible that Quarrel is attracted to male relationships that will disappoint at best, but mostly hurt. Or perhaps, and there has been wild-speculation at Bruiser's, Quarrel and Crackerjack might be related.
