Hey JB I had changed the vital stats where you had Astro City Comics and Dark Age because it seems redundant, when we have the link to the issues themselves...

Yeppers. I figured that was the reasoning, and the redundancy is very apparent to those of us who are privy to our abbreviation coding of the titles.

Here's my thinking...

1. Viewpoint of the the casual reader coming to this site for information. Keep things clear for them first and foremost.

2. Standard practice for tech-writers is to never present an abbreviation cold to the reader. Always present the abbreviation in the following manner --> Big Outrageous Really Inventive Naming Group(BORING). After that you can use the abbreviation without the long name.

3. I think item 2 works for techie articles in techie journals, but it feels cold to me for our webpages. I would like the major text areas of our webpages to flow in a clean narrative style. So I would prefer seeing the full comic titles(with link) in most cases in these areas.

4. Item 3 does NOT apply to the appearance lists. Like footnotes, bibliographies, brevity is the watchword in this area.

So that's my logic for changing it back. Be interested in hearing how you guys feel about this.

When I first started on the debuts, I was writing them all out like that. But I don't know about the casual reader dropping by. I figure most people if they're interested would click the links if they really wanted to see more. Of course I know there are times when I'm looking up stuff but sometimes pass by info if I have to go elsewhere. But having them under appearances, I think people would figure it out.(I hold us comics fans are a little more clever than others).

Maybe the simplest thing is if you write out the title have it be able to be linked the same as if you just did the numbers... Or have something brief on the main page....

You can create a link to issue titles while using something else for the link text:

[[2:4|volume 2, number 4 -- "New Kid in Town"]]

creates the link

volume 2, number 4 -- "New Kid in Town"

sorta the best of both worlds, right?
