Brian astounds the superhumanly swift and nigh invulnerable Samaritan by not only keeping out of reach for several seconds but also effectively striking the hero's pressure points. When this proves insufficient Brian, explaining that he will hunt down any means of evening the odds, pulls out a coin-sized item that upon contact causes the energy that empowers Samaritan to erupt and immobilize him.

Immediately confronted by Winged Victory, Brian assures her he believes she is being framed and that he is there to uncover the truth. He apologizes to Samaritan who tells him to think nothing of it. Brian shows them that he has found falsified but convincing records of email contact between Winged Victory and the villains and has started composing a list of suspects. Winged Victory is impressed by the list and she and Samaritan offer to contribute, the latter revealing some of the capabilities of his zyxometer which intrigues Brian.

Wondering what is going through Winged Victory's mind, Brian monitors through her own security cameras as she invites [[E.A.G.L.E.]] onto the premises and flies off, leaving it in their hands.

The sidekick to the [[Confessor]], Altar Boy bolted onto the scene in 1997 during the [[Enelsian Invasion]], only to disappear after the Confessor's martyred death. He has not been seen since.

As a teenager, Brian Kinney came to [[Astro City]] to meet, hook up with, and (he quietly hoped) become a super-hero. He immediately found a job at [[Bruiser's]] bar but based on Brian's behaviour the first day of employment, the [[ K.O. Carson |owner]] recommended him to work at a more prestigious eatery, [[Butler's]]. It was only a few days there before he had the chance to prove himself in front of many non-costumed heroes. In an attempted hostage situation, with Brian as the hostage, he took the opportunity to turn the table as it were and defeat the villain ([[Glue-Gun]]) without any assistance.

His action garnered the attentions of rival bus-boys and more importantly the vigilante super-hero known as the [[Confessor(Jeremiah Parrish)|Confessor]] who made his interests immediately clear.

Thus fortune, fate, and determined effort blessed Brian with the opportunity to train with one of Astro City's more illustrious (and perhaps infamous) superheroes. One thing was certain, people respected the Confessor, and respect was the main thing that Brian felt was missing in his and his father's lives.

It was a magic summer for Brian as his apprenticeship lead to fast advancement and lots of action patrolling the streets and fighting criminals. Among his highlights were helping [[Crackerjack]] prove that an imposter had been committing crimes in the very guise of Crackerjack. In addition, he aided the Confessor with the capture of various criminals that ran the gamut from the colorful, resourceful [[Gunslinger]], to simple, petty [[Byoosik's Bumblers|thieves]]. But that summer of 1997 turned tragic as first the citizens of Astro City turned on their super-empowered guardians, and then his mentor sacrificed himself to reveal the [[Enelsians|alien intruders]] threatening the safety of Astro City and the world.

The very brief career of the Altar Boy went dormant after that tremendous loss, but Brian did not lose focus on his goals. After four years of traveling and training, he took up the mission of his mentor, continuing his crime-fighting career by becoming the new force behind the mask and mission of [[Confessor(Brian Kinney)|the Confessor]].

However Samaritan rallies to strike back at Brian who, explaining that he will hunt down any means of evening the odds, flips a coin-sized item at the hero's chest where it attaches, causing the energy that empowers Samaritan to erupt and immobilize him.

Immediately confronted by Winged Victory, Brian assures her he believes she is being framed and that he is there to uncover the truth. He apologizes to Samaritan who assures him to think nothing of it. Brian shows them that he has found false records of email contact between Winged Victory and villains and has started composing a list of suspects. Winged Victory is impressed and she and Samaritan offer to contribute, the latter revealing some of the capabilities of his zyxometer which intrigues Brian.

Wondering what is going through Winged Victory's mind, Brian monitors through her own security cameras as she invites [[E.A.G.L.E.]] onto the premises and flies off, leaving it in their hands.

The current Confessor has no vampire related powers, instead using voice modulators and tricks to inspire fear in the hearts of evil-doers. However, Brian Kinney is trained in martial arts, possesses keen detective skills, and maintains a rigorous physical training schedule, including four years of training around the world before assuming the full guise of the Confessor.

He also possesses computer hacking skills on a level that would make him among the world's most elite and technical knowledge sufficient to evaluate highly advanced security systems.

* Tools and weapons that would even the odds against specific superhumans, including the Ifrit's Doom.

* Brian's cape appears to defy gravity while he is clinging to surfaces.
* Samaritan being vulnerable to Brian's blows may have been due to the proximity of the Ifrit's Doom, a device perfected to disrupt Empyrean Fire and beings empowered by it, which ironically would also include [[Infidel]], its initial developer.

* A number of the items the current Confessor has acquired for subduing superhumans may have been originally intended to be used by villains against heroes.
