Nightingale A dark and moody 1990s hero, partnered with Sunbird. Powers While she is a skilled acrobat and martial artist,there is also speculation than can project darkness of energy. Some sources state that Nightingale has no powers; however, she has been observed to project darkness (in 1:5). Whether this effect is due to a power or performed using technology is unclear. In addition to projecting light, Sunbird can also fly. Nightingale appears to be a skilled acrobat with no flight ability, which suggests that technology is being used to project darkness. Speculations, Theories It's wildly speculated that Nightingale and Sunbird are lesbians, but they neither confirm nor deny the allegations. It has also been speculated that they are sisters or even mother and daughter. Besides being partner to Sunbird, it seems that Nightingale and most of the street level heroes of Astro City seem to associate with each other quite a bit. In many of their appearances they seem to mention one another or joke about one another. Crackerjack, Jack-in-the-Box, Quarrel II, Sunbird and Nightingale and you might throw Street Angel into the mix as well as the Irregulars.
